Last week, World Lacrosse announced the men’s and women’s schedules for the 2024 World Box Championships to be played in Utica, N.Y. later this year.

Box Lacrosse, also known as Indoor Lacrosse, is played inside the confines of a multi-sport rink, with a distinct set of rules that differ from the field game. The playing surface is enclosed by boards, and each team has six players on the floor – five runners and one goaltender.

In short, it’s a version of lacrosse that features tight spaces, a fast pace, and quick decision making by players.

Retiree Pete Lee (center) has committed a lifetime of service to help grow youth lacrosse in California, including the past 10 years with 805 Lacrosse.

USA Lacrosse has named six winners of its annual Youth Lacrosse Service Awards, recognizing outstanding contributors to youth lacrosse from around the country for the 2023 calendar year. The winners were selected from among the nominations submitted for each award and are being recognized with presentations arranged by their local lacrosse organizations. The awards and honorees are:

SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse is expanding its offerings for coach education through a series of interactive virtual sessions covering a variety of topics. The series will launch on Wednesday, Jan. 10 and continue for 12 weeks through the end of March.

SPARKS, Md. — Registration for the USA Lacrosse Academy in Philadelphia, a professional development opportunity for coaches and officials, is now open. The USA Lacrosse Academy will be held from Jan. 13-14, 2024 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The officials curriculum will be focused on sixes and box officiating for both the men’s and women's game.

USA Lacrosse announces Kirsten Kelley of Blacklick, Ohio and Stephen Finnell, Jr. of Garden City, N.Y. as the recipients of 2023 Michael Breschi Scholarships.

Established in 2007 to honor the life and memory of Michael Breschi, son of University of North Carolina men’s lacrosse head coach Joe Breschi, the scholarships are awarded annually to two high school seniors who are attending college and are the son or daughter of a coach who serves as a full-time employee of an educational institution.
